Paws in Paris

Two extraordinary cats lost on the streets of Paris are the stars in this new fantasy adventure series for young readers.

When a young news reporter is offered an opportunity of a lifetime to work in Paris, her only concern is being able to take her two beloved cats with her. But when these curious kitties become lost on the streets of the City of Lights, Tenny and Bella are led on an adventure to seek help from a notorious gang of battle-scarred cats to find their way home. Author Elizabeth M. Grieco masterfully combines detailed realistic scenes with a colorful cast of talking animal characters in Paws in Paris, the debut title in The Adventures of Tenny and Bella book series for middle-grade readers.

On her first day in Paris, cub reporter Sarah Gellar is called to the office for a three-day assignment, leaving her beloved Tenny and Bella in the care of the landlady of her new apartment in Montmartre, a neighborhood in Paris north of the city center. But these “indoorsy” cats are curious and take advantage of an unlocked window to explore, inadvertently becoming lost after causing some mayhem and escaping on a subway train.

The lost duo have no idea how to get back to Sarah’s apartment when they meet an eager-to-please young cat named Mephisto, who leads them to an old and wise feline named Cleo. He tells them that their only chance of finding a way back unscathed is to seek help from Le Matou, the notorious and brutal leader of the roughneck Graveyard Gang, and sends another old cat named Maurice to accompany them.

But before they begin their quest, a struggling yet talented portrait artist sees a wandering Tenny alone on the busy streets and takes her home to his wife as a gift. When Bella discovers Tenny’s absence, she is devastated and risks her own life to get Tenny back, critically injuring herself in a motorbike accident. Maurice conjures a magical healer cat named Zahra whose enchantment saves Bella.

Coming face to face with the merciless Le Matou brings its own set of shocking circumstances, unveiling a shameful past for Maurice. With the Graveyard Gang’s thugs keeping watchful eyes on all of the Paris territories, Bella and her new feline friends have no choice but to convince Le Matou to help them find Tenny and get them back to Sarah or succumb to the streets … the question is, will the brute agree?

Elizabeth M. Grieco threads travel and culture in a fast-paced adventure with an exciting array of cat personalities in Paws in Paris. Families and educators of young readers will welcome the introduction to the French language and facts, while middle-grade readers will enjoy the entertaining escapades of these courageous cats. Paws in Paris is the first title in The Adventures of Tenny and Bella and is available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
